Are the infrared and UV radiation used in DecoRad® equipment dangerous?
The infrared and UV radiation used in DecoRad® equipment are not hazardous to health. However, it is necessary to use personal protection equipment, such as long sleeves, gloves and the supplied DecoRad® UV-resistant glasses. The DecoRad® equipment has been carefully tested and approved by TNO.
Can any type of paint be used in combination with the DecoRad® equipment?
The infrared drying of paint is possible with any type of physically drying water-based paint. UV curing, however, can only be done with paint which is suitable for the DecoRad® equipment. This is paint to which photoinitiators have been added. Currently, the paints of producer Caporol called Capacryl Aqua DecoGloss and of producer Drywood called Poseidon UV are suitable for the DecoRad® equipment.
Can glass break when it is treated with DecoRad® equipment?
No. It is not possible to break glass by treating it with DecoRad® equipment. However, it is of course not recommended to treat the same spot for longer periods in a row, as this may result in hot spots.
Does paint which is suitable for DecoRad® equipment also dry without infrared drying?
Paint with added photoinitiators also dries in the regular way if not treated with DecoRad® equipment. Drying times can be compared with normal physically drying water-based paints, although the curing will occur slightly quicker due to UV absorption from the sun/day light.
Does the DecoRad® equipment come with a warranty?
All our products include a 1 year carry-in warranty, with exception of the lamps. Please save your receipt well, as this is considered proof of purchase. The one-year warranty starts from the moment of purchase. If any deficiencies occur to the DecoRad® equipment, which did not result from carelessness or intent, then you can contact your wholesaler. If you have any questions, or in case of dispute, please contact DecoRad® Systems bv.
For which kind of activities is the DecoRad® Automate suitable?
It is particularly suitable for repetitive activities requiring speed. For example, in cases with several doors (>5), the increased drying and curing on location (door production) with limited space available, etc.
For which kind of activities is the DecoRad® Handmate suitable?
The DecoRad® Handmate is particularly suitable for activities requiring speed, for rotating parts, where multiple layers have to be applied in a row and in weather conditions which are normally considered unsuitable. Practical examples are doors, frames, thresholds, handrails, steps, etc. Places requiring speed: restaurants, hotels, banks, hospitals, prisons, schools, stock markets, health care institutions, etc.
How many lamps are there in the DecoRad® equipment?
The DecoRad® Handmate contains 2 infrared lamps and 1 UV lamp.
The DecoRad® Automate paint dryer contains 6 infrared lamps and 6 UV lamps.
The DecoRad® Floormate contains 1 UV lamp.
What are the energy costs of the DecoRad® equipment for the client?
The costs of 1 kilowatt-hour are circa 23 eurocent. When using the DecoRad® Handmate or the DecoRad® Automate for accelerated drying and curing of a door 2m², the costs will always remain below 0,10 euro cent. However, the resident can immediately close his or her door/window again and will not suffer from any loss of heat or cold from the house.
What is the average drying and curing time of a door treated with DecoRad® equipment?
With the DecoRad® Handmate, circa 12 minutes of treating with infrared and UV is sufficient. With the DecoRad® Automate, circa 9 minutes is sufficient. Both are not dependent on outside temperatures and the relative atmospheric humidity. The above-mentioned times have been measured for an outside door measuring 2m2.
